Pleased juste to take part in Vinexpo Asia this year, Maison François Voyer, a renowned Cognac house from France’s Grande Champagne region, now has even more poignant reason to celebrate its sojourn in Hong Kong.
Earlier this week, the Hong Kong Sommelier Association, in collaboration with Sommeliers International, awarded François Voyer’s high-premium Extra Cognac a gold medal in the 12th Challenge to the Best French Wines, Beers & Spirits for Asia.
“It makes us very proud, because this spirit, which is a blend of 40-year-old Cognacs, is the legacy of the work of the previous generation,” François Voyer’s Sales Director, Morgan Moutet, told The Daily.
Legacy is of paramount importance to this family-run business, which dates back five generations, exports to some 50 countries, and has carefully built up relationships with some of the finest, Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe, including The Dorchester (three stars), in London, and the Le Meurice (two stars) and Plaza Athénée (three stars), in Paris.
Extra Cognac, a complex spirit with notes of spice, tobacco leaf and candied fruit, is one of François Voyer’s flagship products. It also boasts a very long aftertaste, and the recognition it just received from the Hong Kong Sommelier Association is testament, Morgan Moutet explained, that the product’s taste and quality really fit with Asian consumers.
“It makes us very happy because it shows we’re moving deeper into the Asian market,” he said.
