Lanciola is a historic farm that was born on the rolling hills of Impruneta, 6 km south of Florence. The property extends over 40 hectares between Pozzolatico and Cascine dei Ricci, in the production area of the “Chianti Colli Fiorentini”.
The company logo, belonging to the Ricci family, refers to the origin of this company. In the fifteenth century the Ricci family, at the service of the Medici family, owner of these lands, built the first agricultural systems on these hills. Pierfrancesco Ricci, of modest origins but of excellent education, was entrusted with the education of Cosimo dei Medici; he identify these lands suited for the production of quality wine and oil.
The Guarnieri family, the current owner, acquired Lanciola at the end of the 1960s and continued to enhance the land and its products.
The soils of Impruneta are of medium texture and rich in clay; this allows to always have a good water reserve even in the most difficult years. The wines have a good structure but still rich in acidity which gives elegance and good aging capacity.
In 1985 Lanciola was enriched with the “Le Masse di Greve” farm on the first hill south-east of Greve in Chianti. In the heart of the Chianti Classico, 10 hectares of vineyards, 300 meters above sea level, presenting a soil rich in scales, alternating between alberese and fine limestone sandstones. The vineyards are heavily sunny and the wines are warm with fine and dusty tannins.
Lanciola is in organic transition, in order to achieve the best balance between soil and plant to give quality products without contaminating the environment.
